A very British summer

It may be raining outside but it’s summer on my blog today!

Wedding world has been full of glorious colour this week, from simple ways to dress up your tables to sumptious cakes to amaze and surprise your guests.

Accessories that will bring a rainbow of colours to your bridal party.

Plus the best of summer ideas from my favourite blogs .

Take inspiration from this fabulous use of summer flowers in a traditional striped marque to create a very British summer theme, from the album Village Fete Wedding of Laura and Simon from Red Floral Architecture

This informal use of containers and stands is a brilliant way to mix and match to create explosions of colour. The Wedding of my Dreams have a lovely range of inexpensive containers like these glass heart bottles.

As always Martha Stewart is bursting with summer ideas like this use of mismatched tins to create a display bursting with summer colour.

Cakes are another fabulous way to inject colour into your wedding decor, this gorgeous confection the Versailles Bird Cake created by The Little Venice Cake Company featured on Alice in Weddingland

I am a big fan of the ombre cake (where graduation of colour is used in the fondant, icing and even the layers of the cake). You could go for one toning shade like this pink delight found on Before the Big Day

or this lavendar lusciousness found on Onewed

or you could pull out all the stops and go for a rainbow of colour like this colour palette from Before the Big Day, check out the blog for details of all the elements

Accessories that I think would go perfectly with a summer flowers theme are floral bracelets for the bridesmaids, Enchanted Handmade Jewellery make the most beautiful charm bracelets in a range of colours and are amazing value this purple floral bracelet is just £20 available on Etsy.

If you are feeling really romantic step away from the traditional white dress and consider floral print added to your gown, this beautifull dress is by Atellier Aimee featured on PrestonBailey, visit the blog to see the rest of the range.

Given that the British summer can be somewhat unreliable I think using this palette is a fabulous way to bring sunshine into your wedding day.

Would love to know what you think of this palette, do you have a favourite colour that you are going with or are you going to mix it up, tell all in the comments below, let’s share you never know who might be inspired by your choices!
