Once upon a time most people chose almond dragees in pastel shades in little bags tied with ribbon and although these are still a popular choice if you want your favours to be more personal these don’t quite cut it.
If you fancy something a bit different that is more of a reflection of the things you love then you might like to try some of these ideas.
The lovely thing about these favours is that they can double up as a place name holder, they can tie nicely in with your colour theme and seem much more personal.
Small jars of jam are one way to add a bit of colour and can be personalised with your own labels using an inkjet printer and sticky labels. Choose a font that fits in with the lettering used on your invites and menus. Small jars of jam can be purchased from food wholesalers on line for much less than your local supermarket.
Alternatively you can make your own condiment, jam or marmalade to go in empty pots. Small glass jars are available from Freeman Harding. I have chosen this lemon curd recipe as yellow is one of the feature colour themes this week, recipe and how to on Mamaguru
Another sweet treat is to choose old fashioned sweets that everyone remembers from their childhood. Keep It Sweet has a whole range of sweets from sherbert lemons and lemon bonbons to mint humbugs and chocolate limes. Pick a colour sweet to match your theme.
Buy in bulk and dress them up with plain, metallic or coloured paper cake holders, celophane and ribbon like these shown here from Martha Stewart Weddings. You could also add card labels with your guests names on and use them as place settings.
Small bottles of homemade booze will look fab and your guests will be suitably impressed when they find out you’ve done it yourself. This is also a great way to get the guys involved they are more likely to show enthusiasm for brewing their own than wrapping sweets
Small bottles are available from Minature Glass Bottles and there are lots of cool recipes on line for a variety of liquers and tipples. I have chosen Limoncello because its one of my favourites and goes well with our lemon theme.
Recipe and How to on My DIY Wedding Day
My final selection is one that would be perfect for an Easter wedding, found this one again on Martha Stewart Weddings.
Bakeross supply mini birds nests and plain and coloured celophane. Fill your nests with eggs and label as shown in the photo, or wrap the nest in the same way as the sweets earlier, tie with ribbon and attach a tag with your guests name. Mini eggs are widely available on the high street and online
All remarkably cheap and easy to do but will add that real personal touch to your wedding tables.
My favourite is Limoncello although I am rather taken with the birds nest too, which is yours?
